RAWALPINDI: The Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at General Headquarters on Tuesday, chaired by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, the participants in the meeting comprehensively reviewed internal and external security situation in the country along with discussing matters pertaining to professional interest.

The review also focused on the most effective manner of implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) — which was drafted in the wake of the Peshawar school attack to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism — with the federal and provincial governments, in order to eliminate terrorism, extremism and sectarianism without any discrimination.

The conference also reviewed Operation Zarb-i-Azb — the military offensive launched in North Waziristan by the Pakistan army in the wake of the brazen attack on the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi and Operation Khyber-1 — an operation to clear out militant strongholds in the tribal region of Khyber.

The army's top brass also reviewed the security situation at the western borders, Line of Control (LoC) and the working boundary.
