GWADAR: Six employees of a private company were kidnapped by about 40 armed men from the Shadi Kor Dam project site in Pasni on Monday.

“Armed men came on vehicles on the camp of the company working on reconstruction of the dam, opened fire at the tyres of its vehicles and took away six employees,” Pasni Tehsildar Arif Aleem said. The attackers drove away a dumper.

The project’s Deputy Director Hamidullah Baloch said the attackers were carrying sophisticated weapons when they stormed the camp.

He said several vehicles of the company were destroyed in the firing.

Those kidnapped were identified as Assistant Resident Engineer Rafeeq Leghari, Supervisor Jamal Ahmed Baloch, Materials Engineer Ramazan Tareen, Driver Qadir Bakhsh, Supervisor Inayat Rind and Surveyor Pervaiz.

Personnel of law-enforcement agencies cordoned off the area after the incident.
