TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of workers of a textile spinning mills blocked traffic on Wednesday on Faisalabad-Pirmahal Road near Zakirabad for two hours over the non-payment of their salaries for the last 45 days.
They told reporters when they demanded salaries, the management pushed them out of the textile mills premises.
Later talks were held with the mills management through police officials, and mills general manager Siddiq promised to pay their salaries over which they ended their protest.
SIT-IN: Scores of men, women and children of 120 families of Chak 54-2 GB, whose houses were demolished in an operation, continued their sit-in on the consecutive fifth day on Wednesday at Kalma Chowk in Kamalia.
A delegation of Kamalia lawyers led by bar association secretary-general Abbas Bodla visited the sit-in camp to show solidarity with the protesters. Lawyers offered free legal aid to them.
FESCO: To oppose the proposed privatisation of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco), its employees staged a protest demonstration in Toba Tek Singh and other towns of the district on Wednesday.
They locked their offices in Kamalia. Divisional Fesco employees union office bearers Rana Munawar, Malik Iqbal and Zafar Gujjar said in their speeches in Kamalia that employees would foil the privatisation of Fesco.
