SARGODHA: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Manan in a press statement issued here on Friday said a six-member team comprising qualified doctors and nursing staff has completed a three-day special training for the paediatrics ward of the DHQ Teaching Hospital.

A special team of doctors from the Sargodha Medical College is also visiting the ward daily to combat infant deaths at the hospital, adding the government was taking all-out measures to ensure all sorts of aid.

The DCO said six incubators were operating in the ward out of which four had been provided by the Punjab government and the remaining by the district government. He also said a doctor and two nurses were working in the ward round the clock.

He said Rs50 million had been allocated for medicines and two special sessions held under the commissioner.

An administrative committee had accorded approval for purchase of a warmer to keep the temperature of the ward at 26 degrees Celsius and a special summary to upgrade the ward had been sent to the Punjab government.

The DCO claimed death rate of newborns in the DHQ Hospital was not more than that of any internationally recognised hospital.

He said besides ensuring provision of all facilities, the hospital management was providing free medicines in the emergency ward.
