KARACHI: A fire swept into a furniture market in Karachi’s area of Gulistan-i-Johar on Thursday.

A contingent of eight fire brigades was immediately sent to the site of the incident which has largely taken control of the fire. No loss of life has been reported so far.

The fire has burned furniture worth hundreds of thousand rupees to ashes. The process of cooling is underway.

Earlier yesterday, a blaze had engulfed at least 30 shops, along with four hotels and rest houses in Azad Kashmir's city of Muzaffarabad.

This incident has occurred two days after a huge fire in Lahore's Anarkali market ravaged a three-storey building, leaving 13 people dead.

On Dec 28, a fire had also swept into a timber market in Karachi's Old Haji Camp, damaging dozens of buildings in the vicinity.
