Pakistan to talk to Kashmiri leaders before dialogue with India: Nawaz

MUZZAFARABAD: Pakistan will speak with Kashmiri leaders before it enters into dialogue with India, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Thursday.
Nawaz was speaking at a session of the Kashmir Council in Muzzafarabad, where he earlier arrived for a one-day visit.
"Blaming Pakistan's agencies for involvement in extremism is an utter lie," the prime minister said, adding that Pakistan itself was “the biggest victim of terrorism".
He expressed satisfaction with the international community's acknowledgement of India's "biased attitude" towards its neighbour. "The United Nations should play its role in this regard."
"It is our fundamental belief that the Kashmir issue should be resolved through dialogue. My government initiated dialogue with India but India cancelled the scheduled foreign secretary talks," he added.

The prime minister was referring to the cancellation of secretary level talks between India and Pakistan, which India called off following criticism of a meeting between Pakistani High Commissioner to New Delhi Abdul Basit and Hurriyat leader Shabir Shah in August.
Nawaz also said that the international community must play its role in bringing India to the dialogue table on the Kashmir issue.
He added that Pakistan's main stance was to resolve the Kashmir issue through talks, adding that India could be brought to the table for talks with the help of international institutions.
"Before dialogue with India, I have decided to engage with Kashmiri leaders," he added.
Nawaz also mentioned the recent skirmishes on the Line of Control (LoC), which he said the army befittingly responded to and politicians condemned unanimously.

Freedom is a right for everyone. Mr. P.M as per UN Kashmir is a disputed territory, and the Issue should be solved according the wishes of Kashmiri people. Pakistan should invite world to help solve this issue because India is a non serious neighbor. I wish it can be solved peacefully.

India can very well afford to isolate and ignore Pakistan by not talking to it as long as it wants. However, Pakistan has to show to World that It is talking to India to resolve all differences to get beggary and loans from IMF.India should now approach IMF and other lenders and doners of Pakistan and use its clout to deny beggary and loans to Pakistan. No dialogues be initiated with Pakistan till Pak stops Kashmir Rant.

The world over last 20 years has realized that Pakistan does not have any policy on Kashmir. They want this piece of land (Kashmir) because people in valley follow a particular faith. Pakistani leadership is not in a position to think beyond obvious thus is prisoner of their own past. In fact they do not realize that if they allow to live people of Kashmir valley with India they will be doing a lot to service to them. Or may be they want to tread the path that Aurengzeb walked three hundred years back by pursuing Marathas and thus weakening the whole empire so much that a trading company's ordinary employee could lay the foundations of another empire. It is time for Pakistani establishment and people to think seriously on Kashmir issue. Their faith is becoming the cause of their undoing. Hope they realize it soon.

India wants to be a big brother in the subcontinent to show it's supremacylike the US but Pakistan is resisting that and this is their biggest problem. That's why they are not losing any chance to make Pakistan weak by hooks or by crooks.

In 1971 war (which Pak officially surrendered), Russia had sent nucleur submarine in aid of India, meanwhile all weather friend China did not make a single official statement.
In 1999 Kargil again it was your all weather friend China who tapped Gen. Musharraf's phone call and revealed to the world that it was Pak army in form of Jihadis in Kargil. As usual China stayed away from Kargil conflict.
For China , Pak is a market of 200 Million people, whose leaders are willing to trade their morals for right price. Same is the case with US and you have not learnt any lesson from history.

@Aisha On similar lines, get plebiscite done in Balochistan and if people are not with you, give them independence. Our stand on Kashmir is clear -the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir including the areas which have been illegally occupied by Pakistan and China, is an integral part of India. The only solution is to discuss how to get these illegally occupied by Pak and China, to get back. So what you say or we discuss with Pak.

Good on Nawaz. The message to India should be that Pakistan can not be dictated to and there are no pre-conditions that can be imposed. Pakistan can talk to who ever it likes and get their opinions and views.
It is the Indians who think they are in a playground and can bully people and dictate what actions Pakistan can take.
If the Indians want to talk on an equal basis with no preconditions then fine. Otherwise the only people who are at fault for talks taking place are Indians.
I do not think hindu Modi is serious for peace talks.

It is amazing to see so many indians on this forum. India should stop pretending that it is a super power. It can become one; only if it learns to take neighbours along. Victory is when SAARC becomes a bloc like EU; defeat is when you cannot resolve issues with neighbours. India is in a high right now assuming US support; but history says that this does not last forever. Pakistan, on other hand, will come out much stronger in time. India has a historic opportunity to mend ties with Pakistan as Pakistan needs help now. If this time is wasted, we are looking for another century of acrimony.

The purpose of recent firing on LOC from Pakistan is clear, as Nawaz wants International community to force India to come to table for negotiation because his UNGD speech on that line had no taker. Negotiations with India is only possible ,if Pakistan takes effective measure to curb cross border terrorism , which has been reiterated once again by Pentagon report to US Congress.

Classic tactics used by India never to resolve the Kashmir issue.
1) Kashmir issue must be resolved by mutual dialog between India and Pakistan only. No international participation. Not even UN.
2) Pakistan says OK let's talk and India says we won't talk if you talk to Kashmiri leaders (Dialog is about Kashmir and India does not want Pakistan to talk to Kashmiri leaders) LOL.
3) Pakistan then raises this internationally and India points everyone to point # 1 above.
And round and round we go in circle which suits India as they are not honest about resolving the issue in the first place. Exact same thing is done by Israel. Only difference is that Israel says "we don't have someone to negotiate with". I mean if this is not blatant hypocrisy then I don't know what is.

The important point to be noted here is that while Pakistan says that it talks with "Kashmiri leaders", in reality it only talks to those Kashmiri leaders who are pro-Pakistan. It does not talk with Kashmiri leaders who are pro-India or who are even pro-Independence. So just cut the farce Mr. Sharif, you guys are not interested in resolving the Kashmir issue but want to keep it burning.
