PARACHINAR: Two people died and as many suffered injuries in two explosions in Kurram tribal region on Tuesday.

Officials of the political administration in Kurram said that an improvised explosive device (IED) placed by unidentified people on a road went off when a school van was passing through the area.

The van was going from Parachinar to Nastikhel.

The blast killed the van driver, Mehdi Hussain Toori, and a class-II student, Qaiser Hussain Toori, and injured a class-X student, Rahila.

The injured student was first taken to the agency headquarters hospital in Parachinar and later referred to a hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition.

Meanwhile, a man was injured in a landmine blast in Pewar Ghundaikhel area.

The injured was brought to the agency headquarters hospital where doctors had to amputate his affected leg to save his life.
