SUKKUR: Taking suo motu notice of the road accident at the Thehri bypass near Sukkur on Nov 11, Fede­ral Ombudsman Salman Far­o­oqi has constituted a four-member committee to probe the reasons of the accident.

Talking to reporters on Thursday, the director general of Federal Ombudsman Regional Office in Sukkur Muhammad Abdullah Soo­mro said the committee had been formed to be headed by its convener senior adviser Imtiaz Illahi which would complete the findings of the inquiry within a week and submit a report to the federal ombudsman.

The committee included Imtiaz Ali, Adviser retired Maj Gen Haroon Sikandar Pasha, former DG of NAB Sindh Muham­mad Abdullah Soomro and Provincial Moh­ta­sib Office Sukkur Regional Director Wahid Bux Mahar.

Muhammad Abdullah Soo­mro said that as per directives of the federal ombudsman, the members would inspect the venue of the incident, record statements of eyewitnesses and other persons concerned and prepare a report to ensure completion of requirements of justice as early as possible.

He said effective measures would be adopted in the light of the inquiry to avoid such accidents in future.
