Shehla Raza's security to be beefed up after threat

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Shehla Raza received an anonymous letter that threatened to blow up her car, the lawmaker said Tuesday.

Raza received the letter on the address of the Sindh Assembly Secretariat.

The PPP leader showed the contents of the letter to Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in his chamber before the opening of the Sindh Assembly session.

Durrani took notice of the letter and has assured Raza that the matter will be taken up on the floor of the assembly.

He also said that he would ask Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to provide Raza and a few others, including MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi, Shia scholar Allama Abbas Kumaili, former PPP leader Faisal Raza Abidi and Hasan Zafar Naqvi who are said to be under threat, with foolproof security.

He added that an investigation would also be carried out to probe as to where the letter came from.

Besides her, Apparently letter has names of Haider Abbas Rizvi and other Shia leaders. May Allah keep them under His safety. Few months ago I think there were blasts near her residence.

But the threat is to your car and not to you so why you need security and anyway, the car they want to blow up wasn't bought with your money anyway (rather the money of tax payers). So what is the fuss about?

Most of the comments here are made without realizing the fact that what Shias in Pakistan has to come across with every day, whether he/she a shop keeper, a professional like engineer, doctor, chartered accountant or a politician. Allama Abbas Kumaili's young son was recently killed on the pre text of just being a Shia. Beng an ostrich and avoid accepting ground realities are not going to make things better!

Are these people super human, everyday civilians are being killed is there any security provided to the poor people. What good these MPAs are doing to the nation that they deserve fool proof security. Let them have a taste of real life and save millions by providing unnecessary security. It is a shame that people commenting on this forum are not condemning the threat but siding with the Terrorist by advising Shehla Raza to leave the country and have self protection. Issue is for all Pakistanis must be to be united against evil. If this had happened in UK the whole country will condemn such comments including those who publish/broadcast them.
