BAHAWALPUR: Justice Atir Mahmood of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Bahawalpur Bench has ordered that “if the alienation of the land of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park is made in favour of respondent M/S Zonergy Company Limited, Beijing, it will be subject to the decision of this writ petition.”

The order was issued on a writ petition challenging the transparency in the installation of solar park here and keeping it out of the jurisdiction of the Punjab Power Development Board (PPDB).

The petitioner, Idrees Ahmad Aftab, submitted that M/S Zonergy Company was a telecommunication company, which had no experience of installation of a solar system. He prayed to issue a stay order against the government for alienation of state land to the company and to declare project commitment agreement (PCA) of July 23, 2014, void and unauthorised.

The LHC adjourned the hearing till Nov 6 with the direction to the respondents to file their para-wise comments within a period of 10 days. The respondents included the chief secretary, the additional chief secretary, the chief executive of Solar Park, Bahawalpur, the Ministry of Water and Power, Nepra chairman and M/S Zonergy Company Ltd.
