Ahsan’s double at KBA bridge

KARACHI: Ahsan’s team completed the double by winning the Weekly Bridge Tournament by mustering 59.97 Victory Points (VPs) at Aslam Bridge Hall here on Sunday evening.

Having Zafar Zaki, Anwer Kizilbash, Abdul Muqeet and Wajahat Suri in their fold, Ahsan started their journey to the top defeating Mushahid 13.45, then Foxy interrupted their smooth run in the second round, winning the match 12.41.

They wiped out 7-Stars (20.00 VPs) in the third round to keep pace and defeated Ghufran (19.13).

GM’s team finished on the second berth with a total score of 58.44 VPs. having won three straight wins against 7-Stars 12.90, Ghufran 12.10 and Foxy 18.00.

GM’s comprised Tanvir Mazahir, Nasir Reza Khan, Ghulam Mohammad, Salim Zaki and Ziaullah Baig also joined the team in the last round.

Mushahid finished third with a total score of 38.55 winning two and losing two matches. Besides the captain, Mushahid Siddiqui, Mushtaq Mahmood, Rubina Hai and Syed Ameer Hasan played for the team.

Earlier in the pair contest, 16 pairs contested the Mitchel Movement.

The makeshift partnership of Gulzar Bilal-Dr Minhaj Qidwai left other competing pairs stone cold with their massive score of 64.94 percent, while their closest rival pair finishing on second position Zulfiqar Qureshi-Ghaffar Qureshi could score 55.36 and Ahsan Rizvi-Anwer Kizilbash 55.06 per cent occupying third position.
