QUETTA: A man and his seven-year-old daughter were gunned down in their home allegedly by a relative on a family dispute on Wednesday.

The suspected attacker was injured during a scuffle with the area people when they tried to capture him. He was taken into custody.

Police said Mohammad Nasir entered the house of his relative Mohammad Shahid on Joint Road and opened fire, killing him and his daughter Hijab Bibi, 7.

Neighbours gathered there and tried to catch Nasir who offered resistance during which a bullet fired by his pistol hit him and he was injured. He was handed over to police. Bodies and the injured were taken to the civil hospital by the police.

“The cause for the attack was a family dispute,” police said, adding that further investigation was under way.
