GUJRANWALA: Small farmers and landlords of Badoki Gosayan, Cantonment area, staged a demonstration on Tuesday outside the DCO offi ce against what they said non-payment of the price of their land by a broker of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

The protesters led by landlords Naseerullah, Abdul Razzaq, Haji Mehrban and Muhammad Iqbal said the DHA was developing a housing scheme.

They said ‘broker’ Bashir Farooqi bought land worth Rs7 million to Rs8 million per acre. But he paid Rs1 million to them and got a stamp paper signed from them.

They said Farooqi had withheld the remaining amount for the last six months while the price of the land was on the rise.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards and chanted slogan against the DHA. They demanded payment at the earliest.

The protesters dispersed after the district administration assured them of action against the broker.

BROTHERS KILLED:Two brothers were killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a van on Naushera Sansi Road on Tuesday.

Riasat Ali,40, and Waris Ali, 38, were on their way to Alipur Chattha by a motorcycle. Near Verpal Chattha, a van collided with their bike, killing them on the spot. The van driver managed his escape.

Police handed over bodies to the family and registered a case against the driver.
