KARAK: Adviser to the chief minister on prisons Malik Qasim Khan Khattak has claimed that the provincial government has approved Rs760 million for extension of Amberi Kalay to Daratang road to link Karak with Mianwali district of Punjab.

He said that with the completion of the project new avenues development would be opened for the people of Karak.

While addressing a public meeting at Ganderi Khattak here on Sunday, Mr Khattak said that work on Kohe Maidan road had already been started with a huge chunk of Rs280 million.

The lawmaker said that resolution of the most urgent problem of water shortage was top priority of the government and claimed that tube-wells were being installed in his constituency to resolve the issue.

Mr Khattak said that work on supply of drinking water from Lawagher dam was also in progress, adding that an 18-inch diameter pipeline was being laid to every union council of Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil.

The advisor said that a handsome amount had also been earmarked to install solar system in Takht-i-Nusrati bazaar.

Mr Khattak said that Khushal Khan Khattak University would be established in his PK-41 constituency, and informed that the officials of higher education department had visited the area recently to select a new site for the university, as Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had rejected the old site near the Jail Chowk.

LANDSLIDING: A mountain near Mithawala area of Karak city has started drifting from its place, creating fear among people.

The hill started drifting at about 10am on Sunday and the slide continued till filing of this report.
