HYDERABAD: Announcing revival of his Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) which he had merged in the PML-N last year, former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi has demanded formation of a national government.

Mr Jatoi, who has already resigned from the basic membership of the PML-N, said the election commission should be reconstituted for holding fresh elections.

He was addressing a press conference in new Hyderabad city on Sunday after chairing a meeting of his party’s central committee. Supporting agitation and sit-ins by Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri in Islamabad, he said corrupt politicians should be held accountable.

Mr Jatoi and his son, Kareem Ali Jatoi, had contested elections on NA-232 and NA-233 against PPP candidates in Dadu district but lost. They have filed their appeals before the election tribunal, claiming rigging in May 2013 polls and their appeals are pending adjudication for the last 15 months.
