MINGORA: A local special anti-terrorism court on Thursday awarded two years imprisonment and Rs5,000 fine to a man and acquitted three suspects in the PML-N leader Ameer Muqam bombing case.

It also declared Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan chief Maulana Fazlullah and two other militants proclaimed offenders in the case.

Ameer Muqam had survived a remote-controlled bomb blast in Martong area of Shangla district on January 12, 2014.

However, the blast had left five, mostly policemen, dead.

While giving verdict in the case, the court announced the penalty of two years jail and Rs5,000 fine for Naeemul Haq of Chakeesar area in Shangla under Section 9 of the Anti-Terrorist Act.

It, however, acquitted Roshan, Akhtar and Noorul Bashar due to unavailability of evidence of the involvement in the crime.

The court declared TTP chief Maulana Fazlullah, former TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid and militant Dost Mohammad proclaimed offenders in the case.

The police said Naeemul Haq was arrested after he claimed responsibility for the attack over cellphone and issued threats to Ameer Muqam.

The police officials said Bhattu of Kaas area gunned down wife Maseen Bibi and local resident Saeed at different places and fled.

However, the arrest was not made until night.
