OKARA: Three people, including a couple, were killed in two roof collapse incidents during heavy rain which lashed the district for the fourth consecutive day on Friday.

The six hours rain spell on Friday inundated the entire town. The Tehsil Municipal Administration was found wanting as it badly lacked required machinery.

The rain also snapped electric supply in the morning and there was no sign of its restoration till the filing of this story at 7pm. The power failure compounded citizens problems as TMA’s drain pumps could not function.

In Mandi Ahmadabad, Depalpur, Ahmed Ali and his wife Hafeezan died when the roof of their house collapsed. In Hujra Shah Muqeem, Muhammad Rafiq also died after the roof of his house caved in.

Most of the newspaper hawkers were unable to supply papers to their readers as the roads were submerged.
