PESHAWAR: A group belonging to the militant Islamic State group, formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Al Sham (ISIS), has distributed a booklet in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal areas, particularly in Afghan refugee camps.

The booklet in Pashto and Darri is titled Fateh (victory) and has the images of the IS flag and Kalashnikov on its cover. It is said to have been distributed in some areas of Afghanistan as well.

According to informed sources, a small group of activists led by an Afghan national has distributed the booklet.

It calls upon people to support the IS which has occupied large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.

It says the caliphate declared in parts of Iraq and Syria will expand to Khurasan, comprising Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asian countries.

A security official said the emergence of the IS-affiliated group was unlikely to change the militancy scenario in Pakistan.

He said that the local militants owed allegiance to Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar and considered him to be their Amirul Momineen. Therefore, an IS affiliate in the country is unlikely to attract militant groups.

He said that Al Qaeda had been operating in the region for a long time and had its allies. It will never allow the IS to take its place.

In case of Syria and Iraq, ISIS comprises of foreign fighters but in case of PAKISTAN, foreign agencies are so well dug in, it will not be difficult to exploit local poor population. Yet another failure by our security agencies.

Islam has never ever been promoted on the basis of sword . ISIS is doing it in the wrong Un-Islamic way and before they get here, which i certainly doubt ,as our armed forces are too strong MashaALLAH, we should close the doors for ISIS from the very beginning

The evil virus of ISIS will find a fertile environment to grow in Pakistan due to the radical mullahs who have set the stage for jihad...this cancer must be eliminated at the source...freedom of speech is not absolute...messages that call for the violent overthrow of the government should not be allowed...find the source of this twisted mindset and remove it as soon as possible...

Poverty and illiteracy breeds extremism and terrorism. Children born in refugee camps are bound to fall prey to these extremists. If we want this menace to end from our part of the world, we need to clothe, feed and educate people.

ravi vancouver Sep 06, 2014 11:33am

IS is a purely a terrorist group. They are trying to attract devout muslims who are not able to analyse this group properly, They have very cunningly called their leader Caliph as they know muslims dream of Islamic caliph. But IS actions are no where near Islamic teachings, their actions are more close to devil's principles.

Raj Sep 06, 2014 12:42pm

Any country can tackle all internal problem when his borders are safe and secure . So first of all close all the border for enemy then try to solve the problem which exist in any country. Pakistan created non state actor for fighting against the neighbours country but today they are creating more problem for Pakistan. If you creates non state actor then various militants group had gotten special kind of job from nation . They prevent to shift to strategies move of country . Taliban is recent example of this type foreign policy which is adopted by Pakistan .there is no good or bad Taliban , there agenda is same to imposing the Islamic idology and culture in whole south Asia .

jitendra yadav Sep 06, 2014 12:50pm

What ISIS is circulating in PAK is not new but just change of wording of what is being taught to kids in PAK school. A distorted history filled with hatred on other countries, sect and religion.
