PESHAWAR: The political administration of the Khyber tribal region made public on Tuesday a list of 70 wanted militants who the authorities say were involved in terrorist activities in the agency.

The administration officials confirmed that the list of wanted militants was prepared and that it had been made public at the political authorities' offices in Jamrud.

The sources further said that the move was intended at motivating the locals to help arrest these elements who may be involved in militancy and other criminal activities.

On the other hand, tribal elders have also been warned to hand over the suspected militants nominated in the list to the administration and failing to do so would attract strict action against their tribes under collective responsibility laws.

The authorities would also consider a targeted operation in case the militants are not handed over to them, sources said.
