LARKANA, July 22: A strong dust storm hit Larkana on Monday night, uprooting trees and causing suspension of power supply to the district.

The storm, coupled with intermittent rain, led to traffic jams as big trunks of trees fell on roads. Many telephone connections also went out of order.

A woman, Razaul, was injured in the Warisdino Mashi village when the roof of a room of her house caved in.

Reports from different sub-divisional headquarters said electricity went off as soon as the storm lashed the district at around 9pm. Dokri, Ratodero, Shahdadkot, Mirokhan, Warah and Naudero witnessed a long power breakdown.

NAWABSHAH: The district received a windstorm and on Tuesday morning.

Parts of the district including Nawabshah city, Sakrand, Sath Meel, Busheri, Jam Saheb, Bandhi, Daur, and Qazi Ahmed received heavy rains.

In Nawabshah city, water accumulated after earlier rains is still standing on roads and getting mixed with dirty water of overflowing gutters. Tuesday’s rain further aggravated the situation.

Enraged residents of the city including shopkeepers held a demonstration and burnt tyres on Lal Building road to protest against the Taluka municipal administration for failing to dispose of rain water.

They were raising slogans against the Taluka municipal officer and demanding immediate draining out of the rain water.
