Nawaz meets COAS to discuss security situation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Tuesday and discussed issues pertaining to national security.
Senior civilian and military leaders also attended the meeting to discuss the strategy to defuse the situation in the federal capital which had arisen due to the sit-ins staged by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
Sources told Dawn that the military leadership apprised premier Nawaz Sharif about the progress made in the ongoing 'Zarb-i-Azb' military operation in North Waziristan.

Prime Minister told the meeting that the government has opened political dialogue with both PAT and PTI to call off their protest rallies, but their leadership have refused to talk.
The decision by Indian government not to send its Foreign Secretary to Pakistan for scheduled talks was also discussed in the meeting.

@Imran S, Our Army is also not able to handle the situation of Waziristan and claim to be the army of Pakistan. Does that mean they are not representing the whole Pakistan? or they are not the true Army of Pakistan?? Difference of Opinion will exist where Human lives! Learn to accept it! No good comes from Bad.

The Army is not taking sides but their mission here today was to convey an ominous message and to find out what the Government's intentions are. I hope they gave them an clear ultimatum to turn things around or else. This is the forum where Sharif brother have to give a very clear and concise undertaking of the course of action that they are taking to bring an end to this Political deadlock. I would not be surprised if the Army has had enough of Bad governance and corruption by the so called champions of Democracy. The joke is that even the PPP is saying that they have never witnessed this scale of corruption.

Now he is begging him not to intervene. True leaders have their roots in public and whenever there is tough time his nation would stand for him. And here is this guy who after governing for more than 15 years is still looking for Army to save him. Mr PM had you done anything for the people of this country you would not be looking at someone else to save you.

why ppl want to put country into chaos? i hope the meeting would turn out positive.i dont understand how could they judge about IK that he would be better. Not every one can handle power. He was laughing enjoying music even his march mates met an accident.

sir, i keep on watching pakistan military officers turn out. it is an impressive.one no wrinkle is seen on uniform.it is a sign of a good army they sit erect. on the other hand pakistan politicians look timid.
