QUETTA: Police rounded up over 100 terrorism suspects during raids in different areas of the city on Sunday, police said.

Heavy contingents of police conducted the raids in Sariab, Hazarganji, New Kahan and other Baloch-dominated areas and took the suspects into custody.

“The arrests were made on intelligence reports about the possibility of acts of sabotage before Independence Day,” he said. The reports said that some defunct militant organisations might carry out subversive acts before Aug 14.

The arrested people were taken to different police stations for interrogation.

But the Baloch National Voice (BNV) put the number of arrested people at 150.

A spokesman for the organisation told reporters on phone that the police had also taken away vehicles of the arrested people and demolished several houses.
