GWADAR: Six people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in theft, highway robberies and other crimes and illegal arms and ammunition and stolen goods have been seized, police said.

“We raided Msrani area of Gwadar and arrested six men wanted for their involvement in heinous crimes,” Gwadar District Police Officer Parvez Umrani told reporters on Sunday.

He said that incidents of car snatching, robbery and other heinous crimes had increased in the district over the past month, forcing the police to double their efforts against criminals.

A contingent of police headed by senior officers cordoned off a house in TTC Colony and arrested the six suspects.

“A huge quantity of illegal arms, ammunition, including AK-47 rifles and 9mm pistols, daggers and eight stolen motorcycles and other looted goods were seized,” Mr Umrani said. He identified the arrested men as Mohammad Saleh, Musa, Imam Bakhsh, Mohammad Ayub, Mohammad Azim and Imam Bakhsh.

The DPO said efforts were being made to recover all motorcycles snatched over the past month in different areas of Gwadar. He announced a reward of Rs10,000 for the police party which had conducted the successful raid.
