QUETTA: Eight people were killed and over 50 injured in incidents of firing and road accidents in different parts of Balochistan over the past two days.

Police said men on a motorcycle opened fire on two men in the Sabzal road area here on Tuesday, killing them on the spot.

The victims, identified as Zakir Hussain and Ghulam Hussain, were going to Quetta from Hazara town.

Police took the bodies to Bolan Medical College Hospital.

A senior police officer said that although investigation was under way it appeared to be a case of target killing. The victims belonged to the Shia Hazara community, he said.

The banned outfit Jaesh-ul-Islam has claimed responsibility for the killings. A man was killed and five people were injured in a clash between two groups in Zehri town on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Khan. “The armed groups clashed after a dispute between children playing outside their homes,” police said.

Police and Frontier Corps personnel took the bodies and the injured to the civil hospital in Quetta.

Another man was shot dead in Noshki when he was passing through the Ainuddin road area.

Police found the body of a man from the border town of Chaman. The unidentified body was left at a deserted place.

A woman was killed in the Ghabi road area after having been hit by a stray bullet.

A man was killed and another injured when a truck hit their motorcycle in the Zarghoon road area.

The deceased was identified as Faisal Masih and the injured as Jan Masih.

Another man lost his life when he came under the wheels of a speedy truck. The victim, identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, had fallen from a rickshaw in Kuchlak. Police said the driver had been arrested.
