SHEIKHUPURA: Tail enders of Rodi Canal Distributary on Wednesday held a protest demonstration against what they said the incidence of water theft.

The protesters gathered in front of Upper Gogera Canal Division office and alleged that some influential landlords with the connivance of Bachiana canal section sub-divisional officer and sub-engineer had expanded their water outlets illegally.

They alleged the development division DO without approval had built an illegal structure which was causing water theft.

They said the farmers of Karial village at the tail end had been deprived of canal water. They alleged that some of the landlords had links with local parliamentarians who were also involved in water theft.

The farmers said various meetings were held with the respective officials over the issue but to no avail.

They demanded that the chief minister and irrigation secretary intervene in the matter and redress their grievances at the earliest.

ACCIDENT: Two minor sisters were killed while their elder brother sustained injuries in a road accident on Sargodha Road near Chappanwali on Wednesday.

Dildar along with his sisters, Hanifan and Sofia, was going on a motorcycle when a truck collided with their two-wheeler. Both girls died at the crash scene while Dildar sustained injuries and was shifted to hospital.

Khanqah Dogran police are looking into the matter. Also, decomposed bodies of two youths aged between 22 and 24 years were found at a property near Rescue 1122 Centre in Khanpur.

The Factory Area police took the bodies into custody and started investigation.
