LAHORE: Five intelligence agency personnel died on Friday, hours after they were injured in a road accident in Sahiwal that took place while they were returning from the funeral of a colleague who was killed during the operation against suspected terrorists on Raiwind Road.

Eleven intelligence agency personnel had initially been injured in the accident Thursday caused by a collision between the van carrying them and a truck.

The injured personnel who were travelling from Raiwind towards Sargodha when the accident took place were transferred to the Civil Military Hospital (CMH) Sargodha for treatment.

The men were returning from the funeral of an intelligence agency official who was killed during an operation after security forces raided a house near Raiwind Road to capture suspects.

Two suspected terrorists were also killed in Thursday's operation that took place a couple of kilometres from the Jati Umra residence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
