Mardan beat Nowshera

PESHAWAR, July 16: DHA Mardan edged past Nowshera 3-2 in the thrill-packed encounter of the Inter-district hockey Championship being played on Wednesday.

Mardan took the lead in the fifth minute through full-back Fayyaz Ahmed Khan who converted a penalty stroke after Ali Khan was adjudged to have fouled by Nowshera’s Anwar. Three minutes the teams were level when inside right Gul Baz sounded the board for Nowshera.

But Mardan again took the lead in the 15th minute through right winger Ali Khan on the field attempt and Maqsood made it 3-1. Bilal reduce the margin for the losers.

In the second match D.I. Khan defeated DHA Dir 6-4 with centre forward Shafqat scored four goals for D.I. Khan including a hat trick Muhammad Ramzan and Haroon got the other goals. Amjad scored hat trick and Farid Yousafzai the other one for the losers.—APP
