QUETTA: Two sisters were killed and their uncle was seriously injured when a toy-bomb went off in their house, police said.

Ten-year-old Khadija found a toy and brought it home in New Abadi area on the outskirts of Zhob town on Thursday. She and her one-year-old sister Robina were playing with the toy when it exploded, killing the girls and leaving their uncle Haider Khan wounded.

The bodies and the injured were taken to Zhob district hospital.

A piece of the toy-bomb was sent for investigation, police officer Sakhawat Hussain said, adding that bomb disposal squad would determine the nature of the object.

Initial investigation suggested the device went off when it hit the ground, he said.

Further investigation was in progress.

The blast was so powerful that it shook the entire area and smashed doors and windowpanes of the house, police said.
