SECUNDERABAD: An earnest appeal to film industry that the medium of film should not be used “to stress points of difference or create dissensions and discord among the various interests of communities inhabiting this subcontinent but rather to bring out into prominence points of agreement and similarity” and promote unity in accordance with the best traditions for which Hyderabad is universally cited as “model” was made by Nawab Moin Nawaz Jung Bahadur, Political Secre-tary, Nizam’s Government, opening the first Film Conference held here under the aus- pices of the Hyderabad Film Chamber of Commerce.

He also suggested production of good technicolour films, of utilising films for mass education and rural uplift and using films as a medium for building up and strengthening character especially of the younger generation.

In conclusion he appealed to the industrialists of Hyderabad to establish in the State a Film industry which would not only give employment to a large number of people but would also provide millions with entertainment and instruction calculated to make them more useful and worthy citizens.
