PESHAWAR: At least 25 suspected militants were killed early on Tuesday as F-16 jets bombed militant hideouts in the Tirah valley along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, military sources said.

Military jets targeted nine suspected insurgent hideouts in various parts of the Kokikhel area in Tirah valley of the Khyber tribal region, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.

Pakistani fighter jets have been pounding targets in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) for the past couple of weeks.

The air strikes are the latest in a succession of such attacks carried out by the Pakistani military in the tribal belt this year.

The last were carried out in North Waziristan in late May, killing at least 75 people and causing some 58,000 people to flee from the district in fear of a fuller ground offensive that has been anticipated for years.

The Khyber district itself was targeted previously in April in aerial bombing that killed 37 people.

The district is believed to be home to several militant factions, most notably Lashkar-i-Islam, led by warlord Mangal Bagh, as well foreign fighters from Central Asia.

Anuj Rahul Joshi Jun 10, 2014 10:07am

why not feet on the ground ? Why allow this air bombing which kills innocent civilians a la US Drones? Why the double standards? or does the army not wish to do this the old fashioned way, and hope air force will neutralise the bad guys, with some acceptable"collateral damage"?

Farhan Jun 10, 2014 10:14am

Awesome PAF... do not spare them.... Kill them all. They have killed our innocent beloved countrymen

Ahmad Shafique Jun 10, 2014 10:16am

Please don't stop now! It's been over 12 years of going back & forth. It's time to go for an all out war and eliminate them all. After what they did at Karachi Airport, even if they beg to talk, Pak government and Armed Forces must not!!! Every Pakistani who love their country and leave it behind for their generations, is behind you.

Syed Shabib Ali Rizvi Jun 10, 2014 10:16am

The only way Pakistani people will ever see piece in their lives if the government and Army sincerely try to eliminate all the terrorists and their supporters whether they are politicians or Army generals. If that really happens then that will be new heavenly day in Pakistan's history. God bless Pakistan and it's people.

Syed Jun 10, 2014 10:26am

Ali Jun 10, 2014 10:29am

That's what they are good at.... Conquering Islamabad (every 10 years), bombing and killing their own people.....otherwise..........they literally lost every war they fought.

Taj wazir Jun 10, 2014 10:29am

@Shahid Hussain Khokhar - killing few terrorists here and there is not a good job yet until the job is completely done then we all can say good job pak army.

Ahmad Ali Rafi Jun 10, 2014 10:30am

Mustafa J. Jun 10, 2014 10:30am

Al-hamdu lillah-e Rabbil Aalameen. ([All] praise is [due] to Allah , Lord of the worlds). It is Allah who has inspired the government and military leaders of Pakistan to act to defend Pakistan and it is Allah who will help them in this task, Insha Allah.

Shoaib D.Kasuri Jun 10, 2014 10:35am

@Shahid Hussain Khokhar Wow to kill the innocent people is good job what an irony! Mind you they said suspected militants not convicted ones!

Shoaib D.Kasuri Jun 10, 2014 10:41am

Ha Ha Ha all the all the comments are splendid as to kill our own people who safeguarded us from foreign hostility during Wars in past. You can never eradicate them as you could not for last 14 years and dialogue is the only channel towards solution. Moreover Government got some evidences of foreign hands involvement of as usual but no one will raise his voice against it in terms of being blessed with $

Pakistani Jun 10, 2014 10:45am

Deepak Jun 10, 2014 11:17am

Dead figures must not be provided by Air Force. These counts usually depends on local resources.

ahmed Jun 10, 2014 11:23am

these airstrikes mean nothing. the history is way too long.

Syed Shabib Ali Rizvi Jun 10, 2014 11:33am

@Ahmad Ali Rafi These Brave Pilots are the Pride of our Nation. We salutes them for their action

Amit Jun 10, 2014 11:50am

Well done PAF. Though if you guys were aware of the terrorists hiding place, you should have done this earlier itself instead of waiting for them to strike first.

Also make sure you don't end up killing innocent civilians on the ground. In air strike one can never be sure.

mazhar Jun 10, 2014 11:52am

Only 15? I like to see 1500 or more. Keep going Paki army

Sardar Tayyab Haider Jun 10, 2014 11:53am

Sheraz Ahmed Khan Jun 10, 2014 12:32pm

Well done PAF. But ensure to avoid collateral damage...

Mj Jun 10, 2014 12:37pm

We cant defeat these people and their ideology by brute force. Military action needs to be supplemented by a an intensive rehabilitation program. They need to realize the error or their ways!

Parvez Jun 10, 2014 12:37pm

They killed 13 of ours....we MUST kill 39 of them ...because that is the only language they understand.

Anarchist Jun 10, 2014 12:41pm

@AdHawk Why do you want IK peeping?

Khan Jun 10, 2014 12:55pm

"At least 15 suspected militants were killed....."

Are their any guarantees that the suspects were all militants and not ordinary civilians and children. Based on experience and events in FATA it may well be the case of the latter? that innocent civilians were killed and this breeds the cycle of violence and terror.

vikram singh Jun 10, 2014 01:04pm

Taliban ko to US or Russia bhi nahi hara saka, tum kaise haraoge

baba Jun 10, 2014 01:16pm

Without thought too many jump at "well done". Easy to say if not on your doorstep. What people fail to realise is where did all this stem from? Non existent before 2001.

Ghostrider Jun 10, 2014 01:39pm

kill these rats in their holes...burn them Pak army, we are with you

Mohammad Syed Jun 10, 2014 02:12pm

@Ali They are the reason you sleep at night, they are the reason you live in a muslim land, they are the reason we keep our heads high even with all the turmoil, they are the reason the world fears our motherland. They are the 7th biggest army in the world.

S. M. Choudhry Jun 10, 2014 02:12pm

Those who carry the guns to kill the innocent people claiming themselves so called Muslims; in fact they have no religion. They are the enemies of human even enemies of GOD. We salute to our Security forces for their utmost efforts to bring peace & stability in Pakistan. Pak Army, PAF & Pakistan Zindabad.

Rayaz Jun 10, 2014 02:35pm

PAF you are doing a great job. Congratulations!

We cannot talk to deafs. They do not listen. They will hear bombs in their bedrooms.

Please show no mercy to these wild swines. Bomb them until they become human beings. They wanted to reduce our country to stone age. They deserve no better! let no one threaten any our Pakistanis.

Pakistan Zindabad! TTP muradabad.

Last Word Jun 10, 2014 02:46pm

The war on terrorism in Pakistan cannot be won by airstrikes alone but by coordinated ground operations, busting hideouts in cities and immaculate intelligence inputs to restrict their movements to major cities.

Rao Jun 10, 2014 03:51pm

@kashif They don't count. They leave it up to PR dept.

Rao Jun 10, 2014 03:56pm

@Last Word You are right. THis is all for public consumption. To fool the public. It's too expensive to kill few handful of militants.

uxman Jun 10, 2014 04:04pm

Pak Fauj Zindabad ,

Syed (Australia) Jun 10, 2014 04:04pm

I am proud of my armed forces keep up the good work till they surrender. They have not seen your might yet show them and convince them so that no one in future dare to challenge you. God is with you you are on the right path.

Ganga Din Jun 10, 2014 04:10pm

So the war has started. Pakistan Armed Forces will lose. Very unfortunate.

vijay Jun 10, 2014 05:09pm

Lets change the scenaio a little bit, instead of PAF its USAF which bombs and claim 15 dead, how many of those who has commented 'commending the job' will still say the same.

Waseem Jun 10, 2014 05:19pm

25 dead criminals is good news, but please make it 250.

RajaFarhat Abbas Jun 10, 2014 05:47pm

@kashif They have assets on the ground to gather information.

Afnan Jun 10, 2014 06:57pm

To All concerned authorities. Please by dialogue or by operation solve this issue as soon as possible. Up till now no consensus has been developed either of the options.

Jehangir Jun 10, 2014 07:56pm

@Taj wazir Like all my friends who are posting these comments, I would also congratulate our armed forces for doing such a good job. Please keep up your good work until they are all eradicated and killed.

ilyas Jun 10, 2014 08:53pm

Just get the main high ranked personals and the banned party will be disappeared soon.

Ganga Din Jun 10, 2014 11:04pm

Yeah Right. They were all carrying signs on their backs saying 'Taliban, come kill me"

Mohammad Akhtar Jun 11, 2014 01:37am

keep doing till you are done with the last one.

Aysha Jun 11, 2014 02:01am

They drop one bomb, kill a few terrorists, and then wait for another terrrorist attack before bombing them again.....what a joke

NIzar Jun 11, 2014 05:34am

@Anuj Rahul Joshi Weren't most the lives these terrorists took and take in their attacks innocent. Death of innocent dear ones hurt...maybe its time they feel terrorized too.

Saima Bibi Jun 11, 2014 07:29am

This small single tit for tat is of completely no use. We have seen this game go on for years. TTP does something the army does not like, and airforce launches a single airstrike. This is useful. We need to do a sustained areal bombardment of Taliban, that will shake them to their core, and then launch an massive ground assault.

Muhammad Farooq Jun 11, 2014 08:23am

yes it should be continue uninterrupted. We should get concrete results at the end of the day.

Waqar Jan Jun 11, 2014 08:30am

Congratulations on what? Who were killed, any names - please?

The thing we don't understand is that as we become happy on killing them, very similarly they enjoy killing us. Two wrongs don't make a right. Why can't our 650000 Army go in, apprehend the culprits and then punish them in a court of law.

They just go in and bomb a place and say 25 killed, 60 killed etc. Don't tell me that these attacks are intel based and the greatness of our intelligence agencies. I mean a blind person can see their performance. These 25 might include women and children. The people whose family you kill and then leave comments like "kill the rats" - what do you expect from them when they get you?

Bombing poor people is not the solution, serving justice is the only solution.

A Rehman Jun 11, 2014 10:16am

@Ahmad Ali Rafi . Yeah, they are excellent killers of the enemy of their country, they kill those who kills their countrymen and will not spare anyone. We all must be thankful to them. We are highly indebted to them.

A Rehman Jun 11, 2014 10:23am

@Shoaib D.Kasuri . So these suspects would keep on making fun of your religion and country and you would keep on letting them loose just as Iftikhar Chaudhry did during his entire tenure, the result would be not much different to what we are facing now. In case you are an anarchist, we are not, and we want a safe and secure Pakistan for our children. You are totally wrong when you call them suspects, they have been accepting the responsibility of each and every heinous crime and kill they have committed, and now they have found sympathisers like you in the social media. I feel sorry for the teachers who brought you up like that.

A Rehman Jun 11, 2014 10:29am

@Shoaib D.Kasuri . You will continue to live in a fool's paradise of a meaningful dialogue and they would keep on rebuilding and would continue to make headlines in your already polluted media. What they did in the past was their interest at that time. Now by all definitions of ethics, religion, morality and wisdom they are criminals and need to be punished the hardest way. Collateral damage? To kill 10,000 security forces they have killed 40,000 innocent civilians in settled areas of Pakistan, this doesn't enthral you much? Is this not collateral damage? grow up.

HAK Jun 12, 2014 09:41am

@kashif Drones are used for surveillance of the areas after bombardment to confirm that the specific target was attacked accurately or weather more air strikes are needed. Sometimes ground forces also go in post-airstrikes to sweep the area
