When FIFA World Cup’s Chinese supplier Adidas failed to keep up with the demand of footballs in Rio de Janeiro, Sialkot ball manufacturing company Forward Sports stepped in and got the contract. They had only 33 days to make it happen but they managed it and now Pakistan will be represented at the World Cup by the ‘Brazuca’.
“It was a matter of honour for us, we wanted to do it,” Forward Sports’ head of new product development Hassan Masood Khawaja said. The ‘Brazuca’ was tested by more than 600 of the world’s top players, and 30 teams in 10 countries over two and a half years. Among the players involved in the testing process were Lionel Messi, Iker Casillas, Bastian Schweinsteiger, and 1998 World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane.

I am so proud of the company that did it because by achieving this in only 33 days they have proven that Pakistanis can do what they set their minds on. Hats off for making Pakistan noticed and show in some positive way!

This was only possible because there is no terrorism and major law and order problem is Sialkot. Sky is the limit when it comes to what Pakistanis can achieve when only given a chance to compete fair and square. Pakistanis don't need subsidies from their government. What they require from their government includes: a) Law and order, b) constant supply of electricity, c) consistent business friendly policies that provide level playing field for all, d) Investment in education to produce more quality labor force, and e) less corruption.
Can our leaders stop being defenders of faith and start working these 5 basic things please? Today it is soccer balls, tomorrow it could be high-tech manufactured goods and services.
