Solar park area, capacity enhanced

LAHORE: The Punjab government has enhanced the area of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park (QSP) in Bahawalpur from 10,000 acres to 15,000 acres and generation capacity from 1000 megawatts to 1500 megawatts.

The approval was given by Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a meeting here, says a handout.

He said small solar power projects would also be set up at various places in Punjab and ordered a technical study.

QSP Chief Executive Officer Najam Shah gave a detailed briefing on the project.

Meanwhile, a high-level delegation of prominent Chinese group TBEA led by its President Zhang Jainxin met chief minister here on Sunday and discussed the solar project.

Shahbash, the only project where you don't need to pay powersupply companies money to fuel their plants. The only project that should give more electricity to the nation without any excuses. We want more of these.

Local subsidized manufacture of solar panels should be encouraged to make them affordable for people ,who want to set up small solar units at their homes and tube wells etc.
