KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif is quite upset with the recent developments in national cricket and is reportedly reluctant to take over as chief selector at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

One of the most outspoken and honest persons in Pakistan cricket, Rashid was named as chief selector by PCB chairman Najam Sethi last month and was supposed to take up his duties from April 1.

However, he has not signed any formal agreement with the PCB as yet and has not joined the office either.

Rashid also expressed his displeasure over recent developments in PCB and over Pakistan's stunning ouster from the league rounds of ICC World Twenty20 in Dhaka.

While talking to a private television channel, Rashid said that he may not be able to work in the environment currently prevailing in the PCB. “I don't want to work under anyone except the chairman,” he said.

According to sources, while Rashid is keen to bring in ex-Test captain Mohammad Yousuf and former Test opener Wajahatullah Wasti as members of the selection committee, Sethi is inclined to retain Azhar Khan and Farrukh Zaman as members.

This may have created problems between Rashid and the PCB and therefore he is now reluctant to take up the post, sensing that he will not be given a free hand as chief selector.
