All institutions accountable to Parliament, says Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Tuesday that the Parliament is the supreme organ of the state and all other institutions are accountable to it.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly accepted a motion to constitute a special committee, consisting of not more than ten members belonging to major political parties, to investigate allegations of non-payment of taxes by the members of Parliament.
The motion was presented by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) member Asad Umar on behalf of his party.
The PTI MNA said it was important to constitute a committee to investigate allegations regarding non-payment of taxes by parliament members.
Umar said people were not ready to trust their representatives due to such allegations while the difference between the Parliament and the people was increasing day by day.
Responding to which, Asif said the Parliament was a supreme organ of the state and that it would preserve its dignity and also respect all the other institutions.
The statement comes a day after Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif told a meeting of special services Group at Ghazi base that Pakistan Army upheld the sanctity of all institutions.
Whereas, Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Pervez Rasheed said treasury benches had also agreed to constitute a committee in this regard.

Right Mr Asif, thats why you stopped posting of Bhawalpur VC for heading HEC, and tried to bring Gujrat Univ VC as head of HEC Just because he is your business partner and there is not much in heading Gujrat Univ as compared to HEC, you see billions of RS. nice accounting Sir, I think you are confusing world accounts with acccountability

News - FAISALABAD: A traffic warden was allegedly beaten up by the guards of a PML-N MPA Malik Nawaz on Monday.
Warden regulating traffic outside Rail Bazaar near Gumti had spotted a vehicle that was parked wrongly and hindering traffic flow.
The warden asked the driver, who introduced himself as brother of Malik Nawaz, to move the vehicle that led to an exchange of words. Hearing words, the guards started to thrash the warden and also tore his uniform.
All institutions accountable to such Parliamentarians????
You need to teach the parliamentarians the concept of law/order/system first and then give such statements!

True, Everybody is answerable to parliament and the people sitting in the parliament are not answerable to anyone...no matter how dishonest they are and what they do for their personal gains..
people sitting in the Parliament are selling the country and no has right to question them..
I think if we have choice to save the country or constitution,,,we need to save the country...
constitution is there only when there is country...

In my view PML n has asked these two khawajagan to make sure that they antagonize Army to the extent of Martial law. This way NS will be off the hook with all the billions he has amassed and will remain a victim in the eyes of common man and judiciary. A good career plan.

I feel ashamed that this guy is the defence minister of Pakistan due to the fact that he has been criticising Armed forces like a mad man and he is truly following a confrontational path which is dangerous for the whole system

Executive,Judiciary and the Parliament are three pillars of a State and none of them is described as Superior by any of its inventors, Khawaja Asif should not try to act like Aristotle or Plato, we all !know his back ground.

Indian army attacking Pak forces at LOC, Taliban attacking armed forces, foreign agents trough paid mercenaries in Balochistan attacking armed forces, and now even the khawaja' s have sided with the enemies and attack our armed forces.
To all the Pakistan armed forces. The people of Pakistan respect, admire and are very proud of you. We know that you will , as you have always, keep us safe from the enemies within ,without and the khawaja types.

I can understand why some very great authors here are writing in praise of Pakistani army, which has nothing to do with this topic.
Such amazing scholars fear to be among the missing persons if they wrote the truth.
...unless of course they are salaried ghazis from the military itself.

True and the biggest one ARMY accountable that whenever any political Govt. tries to hold its feet strong, the Army chief interven through irrelevant statement. Army, Sheikh Rasheed, Shujat, Tahir ul Qadri etc should remember that days gone of dictatorship. If COAS should pity then he should openly declare that Army is impartial in Musharaf case. What a joke that Bhutto can be hanged, Nawaz Sharif can be scuffed, politicians can be sent jail but no army dictator at all. ha ha ha

Says a man from a party who has been ruling Punjab for a long long time and still the situation there is bad. Says a man whose party leader was introduced by the worst military ruler in the history of Pakistan. And when he says Army strips the budget, what do politicians do? corruption? taking money from world banks and never put that money into good use? Politicians are equally responsible for Pakistan's disaster. Their party has provided shelter to banned outfits in Punjab. This guy is just hysterical and their party is a joke!

Arif sahib your comment shall be the one to be etched right in front of the three pillars of state. No one has mentioned that Army as an institution is not the pillar of state. They are there primarily for security purposes from outside threats to our existence. Army shall not meddle in affairs of state- Period.

Would Mr. Asif explain the exact mechanism by which our supreme court "answers" to the parliament. My understanding of the current procedures is that the Supreme Court is a self-sustaining and self-perpetuating organism.

I am just a patriotic Pakistani. I sincerely want democracy to continue. I also want that armed forces of Pakistan are not dragged into politics. I know everybody in Pakistan, including military, has made mistakes in the past. The best way to not repeat mistakes is to allow democracy to strengthen.
