KARACHI: A trainee nurse was kidnapped, raped, tortured and burnt to death in Surjani Town on Monday evening, police said.
They added that the body was spotted in Khuda Ki Basti along the Lyari riverbank.
Manghopir deputy superintendent of police Shaukat Shani said it appeared that the suspects brought 22-year-old victim to the riverbank where they hit her in the head with a hard and blunt weapon, as blood was found from the scene of crime, before sprinkling oil on her and setting her on fire.
Later, the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors said she sustained 100 per cent burn injuries. She had been murdered two to three hours before her body’s arrival at the hospital, they said.
Sub-inspector Khan Mohammed of Surjani police who fulfilled the legal formalities told Dawn that the lady medico-legal official told the investigators that the victim was also raped.
He said that the victim was identified through a card of Sindh Govt Qatar Hospital found in her purse at the spot. She was getting training in a physio-technic course at the hospital.
Quoting father of the victim, Mohammed Jamil, the police officer said that she had left her residence in Qaimkhani Colony of Orangi Town at 8:30am and was found dead at 4pm.
Mr Jamil, who is a mason, told the police that they had no enmity with anyone.
“She was unmarried and was among eight sisters and brothers,” the police quoted him as saying.
The police investigators said that she had been taken away on her way to the hospital.

I don't understand how these cruel people will face God on Judgement Day. They are worse then animals. This is the shame on our law enforcement agencies. If they hang guilty people in the public these types of crime will not happen. But our so called human rights are coming in the field against death penalty.

This is just a game for most Pakistani men who believe that they can do anything they want as long as they become martyr and all their wrongs will become rights. Nobody has ever asked as to what kind of human beings they are?. If we forget the religion for a second and try to understand where do these people learn to be so cruel to fellow humans?. under NS there are provincial assemblies and these assemblies are comprised of provincial representatives with CM and interestingly there is a Governor also. And under all these dumbs there are law enforcement agencies.
I am not a die-hard noora and I agree that to great extent, NS being the head of the state is also responsible but I find it irrational to blame or account everything to the premier of the state. We must demand our local Police and law enforcement agencies and at the same time calling for an answer or resignation from the local representative of the assembly.
This is how progressive government system works.

A horrific and very sad incident......it is likely to happen in a country where rapist roam around freely and victim is humiliated by both the judicial system as well as society, further the murdering victim so brutally and more inhuman act, torching the dead body show their inhumanity.

A citizens group needs to be formed because the police in Karachi is firstly not from the residents of karachi, so they are easily bought by their braderi from other areas and secondly are corrupt to the core. The citizens group should hunt them down and do justice that takes years in pakistan

The culprits should be caught AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Get all the VVIP security police off of their duty and make them search for these culprits. Then burn them in piblic. These animals have NO RIGHT to live.
Shame on the government for unable to stop such vicious incidents from happening.

These sick individuals - and they are mentally sick, must be brought to justice and for rape, capital punishment must be carried out! More 10 year old girls will be forced to marry 50 year old men. More women will be raped in the disguise of marriage. More people from the minorities will be forced out of their homes. 4 men will be required to confirm witness of a rape, otherwise, it is not a rape. Shops that sell music CDs will be burnt. Any man not having a beard will be considered a non-muslim. Barber shops will be burnt. People will not work during prayer times but will still be paid for the time they are praying. What a bleak picture.

Nothing will happen to those rapists and murderers even if they are caught. Law and order is totally failed, every criminal incident becomes a source of income for Police, Lawyers and Judges.

Four male eye witnesses are required to convict a rapist in our version of Shariah, in other words it is impossible to convict rapists under this law which does not recognize DNA evidence as prime evidence, hence even murder convictions would be difficult on the basis of DNA.

Btw, our so called mullah's & scholars want to ban any action against rapists because there were no 4 witnesses at the scene. I say we should stop giving any money to the mosques and religious clerics and see what happens. As for NS, he has no idea how to manage his own life, forget running a country. The only man who was saving our beloved country from such thugs is being victimized by our judges. The same judges who cannot close other cases or provide justice want to start somewhere. India and Pakistan are the two nations where females are targets in buses, markets and other places, where lewd remarks are passed. In India now there are cabs driven by women for safety and recently started pink buses in Pakistani women. In India every 20 minutes there is a rape reported may be more goes unreported. The judicial system in Pakistan and India must be same where rape case prolong for months at time for years.
