LAHORE: PML-N MPA Jamal Leghari stunned the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday by declaring that 20 women abducted from all over the province were being kept and daily violated at Dera Ghazi Khan's tribal Tumman Khosa Dhanglai and the border police were unable to recover them because of the might of their captor Ghulam Husain.

"Who will free these women," asked the emotionally charged son of former president Farooq Leghari while speaking on a point of order. Visibly moved, Speaker Rana Iqbal asked the MPA to put his claim in writing and he would have the women recovered.

The law minister too seconded the speaker and sought details of the registration of cases of these women, if any, to locate their whereabouts.

"These formalities will take time. Till their completion the women would continue to be violated," he said, threatening to resign if they were not recovered amidst thumping of desks by the opposition.

Earlier, the member demanded furniture for schools and lifting of the ban on issuance of new arms licences.
