KOHAT: A man was killed allegedly by his brother and cousin over a property dispute in Khattak Colony, while body of a trader was found in Tirah bazaar here on Friday.

A police official said that before dying the injured man, Mumtaz Khan, told the staff of Riaz Khan police station that he was sitting in his house when his brother Akbar Khan and cousin Riaz came and opened fire on him. Sources said that they had a property dispute.

Mr Mumtaz died after giving statement to the police in hospital. The police arrested one of the accused and have started investigation.

In another incident, body of a property dealer was found in his office in Tirah bazaar on Friday.

One Khaista Khan told the city police that his cousin, Rab Nawaz, left his home on Thursday afternoon, but did not return till late in the night. He and other family members started search and found him dead in his office in Khan Market in Tirah bazaar.

Relatives of the deceased said that they had no enmity with anyone. The city police said that the body had no signs of strangulation or bullet. However, they registered the case and have launched investigation.

Meanwhile, the district administration has asked people to inform the police in case they see any suspicious thing or person.

District police officer Saleem Marwat held separate meetings with owners of bus and taxi stands, and the managements of hotels, banks, educational institutions and hospitals.

He asked the participants besides house owners to collect and keep complete information about people who wanted to rent a building or stay in hotels besides suspects. He said the traders should keep watch on suspicious people in bazaars and promptly inform the police about any such activity.

He said that police alone could not provide security to people unless the society helped them in this regard. —Correspondent
