MIRAMSHAH: Six soldiers and one officer were wounded in two acts of terrorism in Dathakhel area of North Waziristan Agency on Monday, officials said.

They said an improvised explosive device exploded near a military truck in Dathakhel near Afghan border, injuring six soldiers.

The truck, part of a convoy, was destroyed in the blast.

They said the wounded were being evacuated to Bannu for treatment.

In the other incident, militants opened fire at a security picket in Khar Kamar area of Dathakhel subdivision. One officer was injured.

Official sources said security forces responded to the attack and killed several assailants.

KHASADAR HURT: Three personnel of a Khasadar Force escorting polio workers were injured when an improvised explosive device planted by suspected militants along a road went off in Khugakhel area of Landi Kotal on Monday.

The Khasadars injured in the remote-controlled blast were identified as Hawaldar Mohammad Anees, sepoys Jamrez and Ismail Khan. They were taken to a military hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

The Khasadar team later defused an explosive device in the same area.
