ISLAMABAD: Solar energy is considered one of the cheapest and environment friendly all over the world.

A private company, who has been trying to get a licence to market solar panels in the country, is fixing solar streetlights from Saudi Pak Tower to D Chowk as part of an advertisement campaign.

Ali Haider, a trader in Blue Area, told Dawn that though solar panels were costly, it was one-time investment and after that the user would continue getting energy without spending a single rupee.

Almost every day, streetlights on Jinnah Avenue remain off for two or three hours due to loadshedding. But after the installation of solar streetlights, this problem will be resolved, he said.
