KARACHI: The three-day Sindh Sports Board (SSB) junior boxing championship commenced at the Ustad Abdullah Baloch boxing stadium, Peoples Sports Complex, on Thursday.

As many as 16 bouts were held in different categories on the opening day. The semi-finals will be held on Friday while the championship concludes the following day.

Some 48 boxers representing Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur and Larkana are competing in the event.

Results:

Quarter-finals:

44 kg: Saeed (Karachi whites) bt Gul Mohammad (Larkana) 3-0; Usama (Mirpurkhas) bt Adnan Hafeez (Hyderabad) 3-0.

46 kg: Mehmoon (Karachi whites) bt Waleed (Sukkur) 2-1; Ahmed Khan (Hyderabad) bt Zohaib (Karachi greens).

48 kg: Adeel (Hyderabad) bt Amanullah (Mirpurkhas) 3-0; Mohammad Saeed (Karachi greens) bt Salman (Larkana) 3-0.

50 kg: Ali Haider (Hyderabad) bt Asif Ali (Larkana) 2-1; Shehroz (Karachi whites) bt Waseem (Sukkur) 3-0.

52 kg: Sikander (Larkana) bt Kashif (Sukkur) 2-1; Waqas (Karachi greens) bt Faizan (Hyderabad) 2-1.

54 kg: Mohammad Mudassir (Hyderabad) bt Yousuf (Karachi whites) 3-0; Naushad (Larkana) bt Naveed (Sukkur) 2-1.

57 kg: Aqib Ali (Karachi greens) bt Jabbar (Sukkur) 3-0; Faraz (Larkana) bt Salar Khan (Hyderabad) 2-1.

60 kg: Sajjad (Mirpurkhas) bt Zahid (Larkana) 2-1; Umair Musharraf (Hyderabad) bt Amir (Sukkur) 3-0.—Sports Correspondent
