KHAIRPUR, Oct 21: The brother of a Pakistan Peoples Party MNA was robbed of Rs1 million in Butro Mohalla on Mirwah Canal Road in Khairpur city on Monday.

Arif Bhutto, the younger brother of PPP MNA Dr Mahreen Bhutto, along with his driver Imtiaz was on his way from a bank to his house in the Butro area early morning when two armed men on a motorbike intercepted his car. Arif Bhutto immediately rolled up the windows of his car but an armed man smashed a car window with the butt of his gun and took Rs1 million cash from Mr Bhutto and snatched mobile phones from him and his driver.

When Dr Mahreen Bhutto was asked to comment on the robbery incident, she said wearily: “What should I say about the matter, the situation is beyond limits now.”

On receiving information about the robbery, Khairpur SSP Asif Aijaz Shaikh along with a police contingent reached the location of the incident. The SSP instructed the police personnel to immediately arrest the robbers and recover the robbed items. Till the filing of this report no FIR had been registered.

Soyem of constable slain in Karachi operation

The Soyem of slain head constable Bagh Ali Heesbani was held on Monday at his native village Rasool Bux Heesbani in Sobhodero taluka, nearly 35 kilometres from Khairpur city.

He was shot dead in the Landhi area in Karachi on Saturday. His body was brought to his native village in a police ambulance on Sunday and he was laid to rest in his native graveyard.He has left three sons, three daughters and a widow.

A large number of citizens, civil society activists and relatives attended the Soyem ceremony.
