LAHORE, Sept 13: Participants in a meeting on Friday expressed concern over accumulation of rainwater in Shahdara Town for the last many days and demanded it should be drained out in order to avoid the growth of dengue larvae.

“Since the situation seems to be dangerous, the town officials concerned are required to rush to Shahdara Town and make efforts to drain out rainwater,” MNA Riaz Malik said in the meeting of the Ravi Town dengue emergency response committee.

MPA and CM’s adviser on health Salman Rafique advised the officials not to ignore the standard operating procedures in connection with eliminating dengue. He said the officials must be vigilant and careful in this regard.

Town Administrator Sardar Ahad Dogar said dengue response teams were vigilant and monitoring the anti-dengue activities in field. He said the rainwater in Shahdara Town would be drained out within two days.

ARRESTED: A team of the City District Government of Lahore on Friday got arrested three vendors for selling unhygienic sugarcane juice near Yatim Khana and Dholanwal intersections.

Officials said the team caught Irfan, Waseem and Ramzan selling juice having sweetener. The same team also confiscated 1,800 gutka packets from various shops.

The officials said the crackdown on gutka sale would continue for an indefinite period.
