Talking to reporters at an Iftar-dinner here on Tuesday, District Police Officer Mohammad Ali Gandapur said online registration of cases had been launched in few police stations and that the facility would soon be extended to all police stations of the district.

He said special complaint centres for women had also been established at Cantonment and Mirpur police stations where trained female police staff had been deputed.

Mr Gandapur said soon a special reporting room for women would be established at Ayub Medical Complex Hospital to facilitate females in medico-legal cases.

He said that instructions had been issued to all SHOs to take necessary action on each application filed in their respective police stations.

He said the police had also started crackdown on drug peddlers and dacoit gangs and arrested some criminals.

He said a traffic plan had been devised to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city during Ramazan.

LAND DISPUTE CLAIMS LIFE: One person was killed and three were injured over a land dispute in Nawan Sher area on Tuesday.

Police said when Sardar Azam and his relatives tried to take possession of a piece of land on court orders they were attacked by their rivals. The firing resulted in the death of Gulzeb and serious injuries to Khurram Shezad, Zareen and Asadullah who were taken to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, police said.

They said a case had been registered against Asam Zaka, Amjad Ali and others who escaped the area after the incident.

Meanwhile, relatives of the victims blocked the KKH outside the Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, accusing the police of backing their rivals. However, they cleared the road after the DPO assured them of addressing their concerns.
