Chief Justice takes suo motu notice of Gujrat tragedy

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice of the tragic explosion in a school van in the outskirts Gujrat on May 25 which had claimed the lives of at least 15 children, DawnNews reported.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry taking notice of the tragic incident fixed June 4 as the date of hearing over the case.

He also sought reports from Secretary Petroleum, Chief Secretary of Punjab,Punjab’s Secretary of transport department, Inspector General of Punjab police, and the administration of the concerned school.

At least 15 children and a teacher were burned to death in a village near Gujrat on Saturday when a faulty fuel system caused an explosion in a van which was transporting them to school.

The Chief Justice does all Pakistani's proud. Without oversight, Children are dying and it becomes one more passing piece of news. There need to be consequences for such a huge act of negligence where several children die and no one is responsible.

Big deal, all the supreme court got accomplished is the removal of one corrupt PM. The president is still there. Nothing will happen because non of those children were connected to any of the corrupt elite. Shame on all of us.

CM sahib, this indeed is an unfortunate incident. But what will be the outcome of this suo motto? How about other pressing matters that the nation is facing, eg., vote rigging by your favorites, because of whom you put some unnecessary roadblocks on a democratically elected govt that instead of concentrating on running the business, they simply attended to you and nothing else! Besides, how about a suo motto on your son and your support in building his career?

@ivehadit: The CJ is taking useless Sou Muto actions. What about the elections rigging? What about Nawaz's corruption? What about his own son's alleged crimes? These are stupid and useless Suo Muto's to keep the common person (who cannot think independently) happy!
