Postal woes

Published May 26, 2013

EVEN though the Pakistan Post lays claim to its efficiency and competency in delivery of documents, parcels, mail, etc., the reality is far from the truth.

On May 13, an important document was dispatched to me through UMS No: 36024617 by an office located at Lawrence Road, Lahore, to my residence at Kalma Chowk, Gulberg, Lahore, hardly a distance of some seven kilometres.

Till date, I have been waiting for the delivery of the document. Although a complaint has been lodged with the authorities concerned, it seems to have fallen on deaf ears, as the postal officials insist that the document has been delivered to the addressee.

Given this state of affairs, no wonder the public is increasingly opting for private courier services. Pakistan Post is among those organisations that need revitalisation when the new political government takes over in Islamabad.
