RAWALPINDI, July 10: A young girl committed suicide by hanging her with a rope tied to the ceiling of her room in Aarya Mohallah while another woman attempted to kill herself by taking excessive dose of sleeping pills after a quarrel with her husband in Sadar Barooni area on Sunday, police said.

In the first incident, Ms Aneesa,17, committed suicide as she had an exchange of hot words with her younger brother over a petty issue, her father Abdul Quyoom said.

He said in his statement that his daughter was at home when she quarreled with her younger brother but the issue was settled however, she went into her room and killed herself.

The incident came to light as her parents returned home after visiting their relatives and found her hanging.

Later, she was pulled down and shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead.

In the other incident, Mrs Shahziz, 24, had a brawl with her husband Mohammad Naeem over a domestic issue. Later, she tried to kill her by taking pills.

She was removed to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital in critical condition. The doctors at the hospital are making all-out efforts to save her.

Meanwhile, a labourer who was traveling on top of a truck was killed after he suffered an electric shock from the high tension power line in the Shahzad Town police area on Sunday, police said. The victim was identified as Gharib Nawaz,20, a resident of Swat. —Staff Reporter
