NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 10: A big rally was taken out in Mehrabpur on Thursday in protest against kidnapping of Chairman of Sindhi Sajan Sath Mehrabpur Haji Khan Noonari. He was whisked away on February 4 from the National Highway bypass near DPO office when he was on his way to appear in the court of the sessions judge of Naushahro Feroze for confirmation of his bail.

A large number of people, including women and children, participated in the rally which was taken out from main the gate of Bab-e-Firdous.

It was led by Dr Zarina Noonari, Imamzadi, Sakina Bibi, Pathani Solangi, Dari Noonari, Zamiran, Ghazala Panhwar and joint secretary of JSQM Sindh, Kehar Ansari.

The rally after marching on main roads reached Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chowk where its participants staged a sit-in for three hours.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Heer and Dr Zarina said that Mr Noonari had been taken away by the SPO of Naushahro Feroze Shaukat Shahani.

They said that their lawyer immediately submitted an application in the court of the session judge who issued show cause notice to Shaukat Shahani. The police official appeared on the same day along with Haji Khan and released him.

He, however, explained before the court that Mr Noonari had been arrested by ASI Awais in a case under section 382 PPC lodged at Shujaabad police station near Multan.

They apprehended that police, in collusion with private persons, might kill Haji Khan and demanded of the president of Pakistan and Sindh chief minister to intervene.

The DPO of Naushahro Feroze could not be reached for comments.
