LAHORE, Dec 20: An anti-terrorism court on Monday awarded death sentence on two counts to Asfandyar, a nominated accused in murder case of a student, Adil Butt, who was kidnapped for ransom from Model Town and later murdered.

The court also ordered the accused to pay a Rs1.1 million fine.

The court, however, acquitted two other accused Uzair and Taimoor giving them the benefit of the doubt.

The accused in 2009 kidnapped Adil Butt and demanded Rs30 million ransom from his family. When the family failed to pay the ransom the accused killed Adil Butt. Police had arrested them while they were disposing of the body.
