QUETTA, Nov 15: The president of PPP’s Balochistan chapter, Senator Lashkari Raisani, has tendered his resignation from the party post. Talking to reporters on Monday, Mr Raisani confirmed that he had submitted the resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari who is also co-chairman of the party.

The party’s provincial body was dissolved by the central high command some time ago but Mr Raisani was asked to continue as the provincial chief to look after the party’s affairs until new organisational set-up was put in place.

It may be mentioned that there were differences between Mr Raisani and Bismillah Khan Kakar, former provincial general secretary, and the party’s central executive committee had set up a committee headed by secretary general Jahangir Badar to visit Quetta to resolve the differences.

However, the committee could not settle the issue.

Sources said that Mr Raisani was not happy over the performance of  PPP’s ministers in the Balochistan cabinet and had conveyed to the party leadership that they were not paying attention to the problems of the party workers.

The sources said that another reason behind his resignation was that the PPP high command had failed to organise the party in the province.

They said that Mr Raisani was also not happy with the pace of implementation of the Aghaz-i-Huqooq-i-Balochistan package and had repeatedly asked the federal government to take immediate steps for its implementation.
