The US-made M109A5 Howitzer is an indirect support weapon of manoeuvre brigades of Armoured and Mechanised Infantry Division.
The rifle's characteristics such as high muzzle velocity, long barrels, long range, multiple charges and maximum elevation angles (greater than 45 degrees) classify it as an effective weapon in the field.
The ceremony was attended by US Consul General in Karachi Steve Fakan, officers of US armed forces and the Pakistan Army.
